Artist Statement

I’m a theatre and media arts practitioner fascinated by character, agency, space, and the transgression of the three.  My work with multimedia in live performance through manipulation of sound and imagery asks what agency and character are, who has them, and where they exist in the physical and digital environment of the performance and viewing space.

My work also employs languages such as P5.js and RiveScript to build performance systems via chatbot API’s to explore character, agency, and the performance space in Human-Computer interaction.  This exchange between live and digital representations in theatre poses questions about our cultural experiences and realities today.  The sonic and visual imagery can be stretched and thinned, fragmented and restructured in the moment to bend, skew, or transfer meaning in the context of the performer/viewer relationship.  character and agency can breakdown and in those breaking moments discovery is allowed to blossom and meaning can be redefined.

My areas of teaching focus on Theatre History and interactive projects in performance.
